The Preferences dialog allows various program settings to be changed to suit the user's needs. Changes are remembered across application launches. Items in this window: [list] [*]Display status messages: When checked, results of various operations such as file I/O will be shown briefly at the bottom of the window. [*]Show tooltips: When checked, hovering the mouse cursor over various UI elements will display additional information in a tooltip. [*]Animate in background: When checked, animations (such as mesh selection) will continue playing while the application is in the background. [*]New document starts with cube: When checked, new documents will be created with a 2x2x2 cube at their center. If unchecked, new documents start completely empty. [*]Show file name in window title: When checked, the title of the application window will show the name of the open document. [*]Undo can change select mode: When checked, undoing an operation will restore the selection mode that was used at the time that change was made. If unchecked, select mode will not be changed by undo. [*]Force US QWERTY key shortcuts: When checked, the system's keyboard layout setting will be ignored, and all menu shortcuts will be displayed for a US English QWERTY keyboard layout. Depending on language, it may not be possible to display some characters when this setting is unchecked. [*]Share pose/mesh camera: When checked, the [link=screen_mesh_editor]Mesh Editor[/link] and [link=screen_pose_editor]Pose Editor[/link] screens will share a working camera angle. When unchecked, each screen will separately preserve the last camera angle used on that screen. [*]Preserve camera between files: When checked, opening a new document will keep the current camera angle. When unchecked, opening a new document will set the camera angle to what it was when the document was last saved. [*]Animate edit operation guides: Some interactive edit operations will draw temporary line guides showing their area of effect or axis of motion. When checked, these guides will be drawn with a color cycling animation. If this animation is too distracting, unchecking this box will cause them to draw in an unmoving solid color. [*]Selection visible behind model: When checked, selected vertices, edges, and faces that are behind solid geometry will remain visible, in a faded color. When unchecked, solid geometry will fully occlude the selection. [*]Keyboard camera: When in Continuous mode, using the numeric keypad to adjust the camera will smoothly accelerate while the key is held, and decelerate when it is released. When in Discrete mode, a single keypress will adjust by a fixed amount without any acceleration. [*]Camera interpolation: Certain operations that move the camera (such as [link=view_front]View Front[/link]) smoothly interpolate from the previous camera angle to the new one. This setting determines how quickly that interpolation completes. Such interpolations can be disabled entirely by selecting the Instant option. [*]Outline alpha: Determines the opacity of lines drawn at face edges (in all select modes), and points drawn at vertex positions (in [link=select_mode_vertex]vertex[/link] and [link=select_mode_face_corner]face corner[/link] select modes). [*]Selection alpha: Determines the opacity of animated highlights drawn to show selected geometry. [*]Turntable speed: Determines the speed and direction of rotation in [link=turntable_mode]Turntable Mode[/link]. [/list-]
